Today (27), British police arrested ‘several men’ for alleged offences under the Explosives Act, as the Army is examining a number of vehicles.
Security was increased at RAF Fairford airbase, used by US air forces during military operations against Iran.

Reuters reported:
“The British government gave authorization to the US to use RAF Fairford to carry out strikes on Iranian missile sites that are attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz. […] Armed police were blocking access to the main gate of the base. Around 30 emergency vehicles, including police cars, ambulances and fire engines, were stationed in the village of Fairford near the base.”

Some properties were evacuated in the Whelford area, as the Army’s bomb squad examined a number of vehicles.
“A spokesperson for the US Air Force said they would not discuss specific force protection measures. ‘The 501st Combat Support Wing and our fellow UK-based Wings remain vigilant and will take appropriate actions to ensure the safety and security of our US service members, civilians, contractors, and their families’, the spokesperson said.”

Some reports say explosives and chemicals were found in a van near Fairford airbase.
The New York Post reported:
“British cops on Sunday arrested five suspected terrorists accused of plotting a van bombing attack at a UK military base used by the US Air Force for its strikes on Iran.
Dramatic pictures show the suspects being held at gunpoint while stripped to the waist, after officers suspected they may have been wearing suicide vests for their alleged plot, according to reports.”

“A bomb disposal robot was later seen moving between three vans after chemicals and suspected explosive devices were found during the operation at Royal Air Force Fairford in Gloucestershire, Southwest England, the UK Sun reported.”
Back in July, Iran’s IRGC warned Britain not to allow US bombers to launch strikes from the base, home to the US 501st Combat Support Wing Headquarters and the 420th Air Base Squadron.
Associated Press reported:
“British counterterrorism police took the lead of an investigation into the arrest of several men over suspected explosives offenses near a Royal Air Force base that has been used by U.S. bombers in the Iran war.
[…] Police said the situation appeared to be ‘contained’ but did not confirm the arrests were linked to the base.”
