The timing is sharp. Ten days ago, the United States and Iran exchanged strikes. Nuclear sites were hit. Military commanders were killed. The interview was conducted remotely, through a translator. Carlson said the goal wasn’t to extract truth. It was to give Americans access to the words of the man their government just bombed.
Pezeshkian said Israel tried to assassinate him. He described a targeted strike on a meeting location. He claimed the United States was not involved in that attempt. He said Iran is open to restarting nuclear talks but questioned how trust could be rebuilt. He asked how Iran could negotiate while Israel is allowed to launch attacks mid-dialogue. He said Iran has no intention of building nuclear weapons but will continue nuclear research.
Carlson asked about the “Death to America” slogan. Pezeshkian said it doesn’t mean death to the American people. He said it refers to the policies of the United States government. He said Iranians are known for science and courtesy. He denied that Iranian sleeper cells exist in the United States. He said he had never heard of such claims. He said Israel was planting fear in American minds.
The interview did not include questions about Iran’s current nuclear capabilities. Carlson said he didn’t ask because he knew the answers would be dishonest. He said the point was not to get perfect truth. It was to add to the pool of information Americans can use to form their own views. He said anyone who tries to block that access is not your ally.
The interview is now live. Carlson said he has requested an interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu multiple times. No response yet.
