Thank you, Dima!! In short, about the situation on the front, something big was hit in Odessa. For a very long time I have not seen flames and smoke in huge quantities like now. About Gheran 2 and about drones, in general … From what is said, the Russians have several models derived from Gheran 2, and the latest versions are equipped with video cameras and can transmit live images, either through 4G phone cards or through the connection with the satellites. And, if we add to that, a potential control by a drone operator, this is truly a “game changer”. Other variants are equipped with radio transmitters, which imitate the radar response, and are used only to completely confuse the Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems. Returning to the large number of Gheran 2 drones and their variants, used by the Russians, we don’t need much math to understand how much it costs the Ukrainians, and not only them, to use systems like Patriot, Iris-T or NASAM, against these drones. At an average cost of 1.5 million dollars a rocket, multiplied by 600 – 700 per week, results in a billion dollars, weekly. But, money are not the biggest problem here, but the production of these rockets. From what we know, the US can manufacture about 2000 – 2500 annually, in maximum current production mode. So, as expected, a relatively simple technological product, but in huge quantities, effectively puts an entire production, of an ultra-technological products, out of game.
If this fact was not enough, now a new major problem has appeared for the Ukrainians. The new Russian drones with optical fiber guidance. A new disaster is looming on the horizon, through the use of these drones, completely immune to any action and classic detection, by radio. I think you have already seen the videos, some of them are top notch, with these drones. These transmit 4K images, at least 60 fps, these are much easier to control in flight, they fly very low, almost to the grass, especially not to be seen and they hit extremely precisely, in fact these are the most accurate drones. The only drawback is that optical cable, but I have already seen some specifications which almost cancel this inconvenience, namely, the range of action 5 kilometers!!!!! That fiber optic drum is scalable, depending on the situation.

Ukraine has already reached a point where they struggle to plug the gaps in the front lines. With all these operational encirclements pretty soon it won’t just be gaps, but holes of to which Russia will surely exploit and go on a 2022 style offensive again.

50-60% is the interception rate for Israel against Hezbollah drones, too. So, this seems to be the limit for what air defense systems can muster against drones.

I can’t believe that the host falls for this Ukrainian propaganda about the participation of North Korean forces. He has to realize that Russia stretches all the way to the Pacific Ocean and shares borders with both North Korea and China. Therefore, they have many soldiers who are oriental in appearance. Showing men with oriental features in Russian uniforms, is not indicative of North Korean participation. Yes, as allies, Russian and North Korean soldiers may train together. But Russia does not need to use North Korean soldiers in this conflict, they have more than enough forces to deal with the situation.

Excellent update dima. Please be advised that the encirclement of selydove could resemble very much the avdiivka campaign. At least four battallions of three different ukrainian brigades published videos about their drone activity against russian forces during sept-october. This would mean that at least 2000 troops would be kept inside the city as supply routes are cut down. That’s why most likely ukranians might conduct diversion attacks in the northeast lines.

Gerans need to simply gain 200m or so in altitude to be relatively immune to the types of AD systems, guns, that the Ukrainiacs are using. A medium altitude flight profile puts them only in reach of SHORAD missile systems which cannot cope with the swarm volume. A higher powered engine is necessary.

Sirsky now have problem of dozen holes on front line and couple of available units to plug them. He must be cursing night and day idiot who orderd him to attack toward Kursk. And now those units around Kursk are going to become teachin material for North Koreans.
