Jamie Raskin, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, is formally pushing for a hearing to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino. The goal is simple: force public disclosure of everything they know about the Epstein case. The request comes after weeks of confusion, conflicting statements, and mounting pressure from both sides of the aisle.
The Department of Justice recently released a memo stating there is no Epstein “client list.” That directly contradicts Bondi’s February claim that the list was “sitting on my desk.” The memo also reaffirmed the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide in 2019. That didn’t sit well with many in Trump’s base, who had expected major revelations. Bondi’s walk-back triggered backlash from MAGA influencers and conservative commentators, some of whom are now calling for her resignation.
Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, once celebrated by the same base, are now under fire. Patel has denied rumors of resignation, but Bongino reportedly took leave and may not return. Internal tensions are rising. CNN reports that Patel is sympathetic to Bongino and frustrated with the fallout. The White House has dismissed resignation rumors as baseless, but the optics are shifting.
