Putin, Modi and Xi join BRICS+ on final day of New Delhi summit — RT World News

The leaders are taking part in an expanded session bringing together BRICS members, partner countries and other invited nations

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are joining an expanded BRICS+ session as the bloc’s 18th summit enters its second and final day in New Delhi.

The session brings together leaders of BRICS member states, partner countries and other invited nations, with discussions focused on resilience, innovation, cooperation and inclusive global growth. Further bilateral meetings are also possible on the sidelines.

On Saturday, BRICS leaders unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration, which calls for reform of global institutions to give emerging markets and developing countries greater representation and condemns unilateral economic measures that violate international law. The document also calls for “maximum restraint” in the Middle East and stresses dialogue and diplomacy as the means of resolving international disputes.

The opening day also saw a series of major statements from BRICS leaders. Putin described the group as one of the main centers of global governance and called for international financial institutions to adapt to shifting economic realities. Modi said the changing world “cannot be steered by outdated institutions,” while Xi called for a greater BRICS role in international affairs.
