That’s the prediction from Colin Powell’s former chief of staff Larry Wilkerson, asked where this war ultimately leads.
He sees Netanyahu hounded from office and dying in jail like Ariel Sharon before him, replaced by successors who are worse and far less skilled at handling Washington.
They become the government that takes Israel down.
Larry is careful about what he means. A democratic state in the Levant that includes Jews could still exist.
The Jewish state is what ends.
And the trigger, he says, is the next Iranian attack, one America is inviting by clustering its assets and tankers inside Israel.
The protection Washington is stacking on Israeli soil may be the very thing that draws the strike Israel cannot absorb.

Washington armed Saddam with chemical precursors to beat Iran, and hates Iran for surviving it.
Colin Powell’s former chief of staff Larry Wilkerson traces where the enmity actually comes from, and it isn’t policy.
They hate Iran for the revolution, for toppling the Shah, for rewriting American power in the region, and above all for refusing to be destroyed.
He goes to the documented history: Rumsfeld delivering precursor chemicals to Saddam so the gas would work better.
Iran was marching on Baghdad before the US threw its weight into the Gulf.
Khomeini’s line at the time says everything:

Larry’s verdict is the uncomfortable one.
