SANDY HOOK FAMILIES SEEK TO SEIZE ALEX JONES’ SOCIAL MEDIA IN BANKRUPTCY
Jones owes $1.5 billion to the families and has agreed to liquidate his assets.
The families argue that Jones’ X account, with 2.3 million followers, is a key business asset.
They claim Jones has diverted sales to his father’s business.
What’s next?
A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for Friday in Houston.
ALEX JONES FORCED TO SELL ASSETS
Alex Jones’ plan to settle his $1.5 billion debt to Sandy Hook families through bankruptcy negotiations has failed.
Jones will now proceed with a court-supervised liquidation of his assets.
An attorney for the Sandy Hook families, Chris Mattei:
“Jones’ pivot to liquidation was a moment of meaningful accountability for his repeated lies.
Alex Jones has hurt so many people.
The Connecticut families have fought for years to hold him responsible no matter the cost and at great personal peril.”
The liquidation will generate only a small portion of the owed funds, but ensures swift access for the families and maintains their rights to future assets.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Lopez will consider the request on June 14.
BREAKING: ALEX JONES’ MEDIA COMPANY AVOIDS SHUTDOWN
A judge allowed Alex Jones’ Free Speech Systems to operate for two more weeks amid bankruptcy proceedings.
Jones, facing $1.5 billion in defamation judgments, claimed an imminent shutdown.
The court will decide on June 14 whether to liquidate his assets.
