Billionaire Clive Palmer has said he is now “too old for politics”, flagging a potential end to the Trumpet of Patriots after the minor party’s poor result in Saturday’s election.
Palmer was forced to create a new party before the federal election after losing his bid to re-register his United Australia Party in the High Court earlier this year.
He launched the Trumpet of Patriots in February and appointed Suellen Wrightson to lead it which turned out to be a complete flop.
