But the DOJ memo released on July 7 said the files contained no evidence of blackmail, no credible client list, and reaffirmed that Epstein died by suicide. The memo also included surveillance footage from Epstein’s jail cell, which showed no one entering the room the night of his death. A missing minute in the timestamp triggered renewed speculation, but Bondi clarified that the prison’s outdated camera system resets nightly and drops the same minute across all recordings.
Trump’s response was blunt. He told supporters to stop “wasting time and energy on Jeffrey Epstein” and accused Democrats of fabricating the Epstein files, comparing them to the Steele dossier. He also said the documents could have been written by Obama, Comey, and Clinton allies. The president emphasized that his administration should focus on voter fraud, political corruption, and border enforcement, not Epstein.
