Trump tells MAGA to drop Epstein. Bondi backed amid revolt. DOJ confirms no Epstein client list. MAGA is now turning its back on Trump

President Trump has drawn a hard line on the Epstein file controversy, and it’s causing visible fractures inside his own base. Trump posted a lengthy statement on Truth Social defending Attorney General Pam Bondi, calling her “fantastic” and telling MAGA supporters to “move on” from the Epstein saga. The post came after days of backlash from conservative influencers and Trump loyalists who accused Bondi of slow-walking the release of Epstein-related documents. The Justice Department recently confirmed that its review found no incriminating client list tied to Epstein, and that no further disclosures were warranted.

Bondi had previously stated that the Epstein files were “sitting on my desk to review,” which many interpreted as a promise of transparency. But the DOJ memo released on July 7 said the files contained no evidence of blackmail, no credible client list, and reaffirmed that Epstein died by suicide. The memo also included surveillance footage from Epstein’s jail cell, which showed no one entering the room the night of his death. A missing minute in the timestamp triggered renewed speculation, but Bondi clarified that the prison’s outdated camera system resets nightly and drops the same minute across all recordings.

Trump’s response was blunt. He told supporters to stop “wasting time and energy on Jeffrey Epstein” and accused Democrats of fabricating the Epstein files, comparing them to the Steele dossier. He also said the documents could have been written by Obama, Comey, and Clinton allies. The president emphasized that his administration should focus on voter fraud, political corruption, and border enforcement, not Epstein.

The fallout has been sharp. MAGA influencers like Laura Loomer and Charlie Kirk called for Bondi’s removal. Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly skipped work on Friday and is considering resignation over the dispute. Trump dismissed the internal tension, saying “selfish people” were trying to hurt a “perfect administration.” He reiterated that Bondi is staying and that the Epstein matter is closed.

The political cost is still unfolding. Trump promised transparency during his campaign. Now he’s telling his base to drop the issue. The DOJ says there’s nothing left to release. But the backlash shows that Epstein remains a live wire inside the movement.
