Texas DPS has been working with federal law enforcement to prevent the flow of illegal drugs into the United States as part of Operation Lone Star.
Over 153 pounds of illegal drugs were seized earlier this week, which included over 19 million doses of fentanyl that could have resulted in fatalities. This occurred in Webb County during an inspection of a commercial vehicle.
Special Agents from the Texas DPS CID unit were requested by the Border Patrol to assist in an inspection at the Laredo Port of Entry. The commercial vehicle that was searched had 26 pounds of meth, 15 pounds of eutylone, 94 pounds of fentanyl, and 18 pounds of heroin.
LAREDO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), as part of a joint operation with federal authorities during Operation Lone Star (OLS), seized over 153 pounds of narcotics– including more than 19,868,181 potentially lethal doses of fentanyl – during a commercial vehicle inspection in Webb Co. this week.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., Special Agents from DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to a request for assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents at the Laredo Port of Entry. A commercial vehicle inspection uncovered 26 pounds of methamphetamine, 18 pounds of heroin, 15 pounds of eutylone and 94 pounds of fentanyl. The narcotics have an estimated street value of more than $1.4 million.
DPS special agents handled the case and made two arrests. The driver, 53-year-old Ernesto Jaime of Wisconsin, and the passenger, 51-year-old Enrique Ramirez Valle of Oklahoma. Both men have been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and were taken into custody. They were sent to the Webb County jail.

Texas DPS has been consistently on the front lines pursuing drug smugglers. They also pursue and arrest illegal aliens within the State.
