Democrat Rep Ted Lieu on Wednesday shouted at UN Ambassador Mike Waltz during a House hearing and called on him to resign.
UN Ambassador Mike Waltz testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on United Nations Accountability Reform.
Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu took Wednesday’s hearing as an opportunity to attack Waltz over the ongoing conflict with Iran.
“Are US troops currently stationed in Jordan?” Ted Lieu shouted to Mike Walz.
“Try to get reelected!” Waltz shot back.
“I am!” Ted Lieu said. “November is coming for this administration.”
Ted Lieu asked Mike Waltz if we the US can trust Jordanian forces to protect the American troops stationed in Jordan after US service members were killed in action there in an Iranian drone attack.
“They are exposed right now in the Middle East — repeatedly being exposed to Iranian missiles!” Lieu shouted. “You should be ashamed! You don’t know basic facts!”
“You don’t even know how many US troops have been wounded in the Iran war?” Ted Lieu asked.
“You should resign! You don’t even care about the number of US troops that were wounded!” Lieu shouted.
“My understanding from the Defense Department’s latest numbers is over a hundred,” Waltz replied.
“That number is wrong!” Lieu said.
“The reason you are here today and in your position is because you were fired by the president from your former position as national security adviser,” Lieu said.
“The president never said a negative word about me!” Waltz shot back.
“You need to explain to the American people how an Iranian military that’s been purportedly obliterated killed 18 US service members and wounded 482 US service members,” Lieu said.
“The Iranian Navy, Air Force, air defense system, and industrial capacity have been massively damaged, if not completely ineffective,” Waltz replied.
“Because it’s not our problem!” Waltz replied.
Waltz repeatedly accused Ted Lieu of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
