Australian terrorist and alleged New Zealand mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant has asked that his pleas be vacated and that a trial be held over his conviction for shooting 51 people at a Christchurch mosque in 2019.
According to an ABC report if the court declines that request, he wants leave to appeal his sentence. Proceedings will start this week.

He will address the court from a special unit, a prison within a prison, located within the walls of the country’s highest security facility in Auckland.
About a dozen inmates classed “extreme risk” are held there, but it was set up primarily to house him.
The “inhumane” conditions of his confinement will form the basis of the 35-year-old’s argument that he was not fully functional when he decided in March 2020 to plead guilty to the massacre.
He will tell the court that, when he pleaded guilty to the murder in 2019 of 51 men, women and children at two Christchurch mosques, he was incapable of making rational decisions. Does this admission mean he was trained by MK Ultra as a mind-altered, Manchurian-styled candidate for Israel?
Certainly after watching the fake video one could come to that conclusion.
The banned video of the shooting Tarrant posted online has been declared as “fake” by top forensic analyst Gareth Jacobs and a detailed report has been published by Kelvyn Alp and Hannah Spierer, Counterspin Media, NZ.
Cairns News published the report in August 2025 and it can be found here: https://cairnsnews.org/2025/08/26/forensic-report-declares-banned-nz-mosque-shooting-video-as-fake/
Cairns News discovered soon after the NZ shooting that Tarrant was an Israeli-trained assassin on a watch list since 2012 for attempting to assassinate Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, according to Veterans Today.

Just to complicate matters further the $15m manhunt for alleged cop-killer Dezi Freeman in Victoria is being overseen by Kiwi police Commissioner Mike Bush, the same police Commissioner who was overseeing the alleged Christchurch mosque murders of 51 people by Brenton Tarrant in 2019.
Tarrant could be relying on the fake video as evidence in a trial after the mosque incident was declared as “fake” on the basis of the forensic analysis. Here is what forensic analyst Gareth Jacobs told senior NZ police:
“I contacted Detective Inspector Chris Cahill, the President of the Police Association and discussed the concerns I had with the video. I urged him to make contact with the officers involved with the shooting inquiry to urge them not to use that video as evidence in any upcoming court case as it was likely fake and may jeopardise the case.
“I have used my 5 years military experience and 14 years as a Digital Forensic Analyst as a basis for reviewing the authenticity of the video and reporting on my findings. The findings will show compelling evidence that the video is not genuine,” Mr Jacobs said.
Now we know why the former NZ Prime Minister and WEF lackey Jacinda Ardern banned it.
Unsurprisingly the ABC is the sole international network granted a seat in the courtroom for the hearing, which has been set down for five days and is subject to strict suppression orders.
