Maverick North Queensland Member for Kennedy Bob Katter has defied all the odds to increase his previous vote tally by an average six per cent across the diverse electorate, which takes in the southern half of Cairns, south to Townsville north, west to Charters Towers, Mt Isa and the Gulf, extending to the Northern Territory border.
The electorate, one of Australia’s largest, is two and one half times the size of Victoria, or 569,000 square kilometres and takes in numerous regional towns, Aboriginal communities, vast cattle country and rare earth mining areas. Kennedy has extensive areas of Savannah and black soil downs, ideal for cattle and sheep grazing which carries a significant number of livestock providing a large share of export income.
Bob says he is grateful for the massive support coming from such a widespread population which understood how the uniparty had systematically destroyed a once homogeneous Australia and he would be fighting for every inhabitant of Kennedy and all Australians.
“I just wanted to thank you all again for your assistance. It was a massive win for us all with a significant increase!! Credit must go to all of the wonderful people who helped during the campaign,” a triumphant Mr Katter said.
Bob has electorate offices in Mt Isa, Mareeba and Innisfail and invites all constituents to contact him for assistance.
Voting trends are:
Tablelands booths 65-70%
Cairns booths 70-72%
Mt Isa 72%
Ingham 69-71%
Innisfail region 68-72%
Charters towers 75%
Townsville 69%
Mt Isa 72%
“These numbers are even more significant when we reflect on the national red tide. Hope you are all enjoying the day!”
