John Cleese endorses Rupert Lowe who promises Britons a tax bonfire

A large crowd of attendees gathered in a marquee for a political event, with a stage displaying a blue banner that reads 'Restore Britain' and several flags in the background.
A large audience turned out for Rupert Lowe’s election event called Restore Britain South.

JOHN Cleese, the famous English comedian, has come out in support of Restore Britain leaders Rupert Lowe, saying he “trusts him more than any other party leader”.

Cleese’s dramatic shift in political loyalties from the liberal-left of the UK Liberal Democrats to the “far right” of Restore Britain has commentators flabbergasted.

Restore Britain spokeswoman Orla Minihane told Alex Phillips it’s probably because the Liberal Democrats have gone further to the left and people, especially older people like Cleese, like and trust Lowe as an older gentleman and potential leader..

At a weekend Restore Britain South event held in a circus marquee, Lowe told a large audience: “We will hold a tax bonfire, which like the Great Wall of China, will be visible from space, stamp duty….gone , inheritance tax…gone, insurance premium tax….gone, air passenger duty….gone, climate change levy….gone….we will take a chainsaw to the British state in manner that will make Javier Milei look like a socialist puppy.”

Editor of The National Pulse, Rahim J Kassam, seemed to find it unbelievable that Cleese could make such a dramatic switch: “Well this is awkward. John Cleese just endorsed Rupert Lowe by calling him the politician he “trusts most since Paddy Ashdown.”

Kassam says Cleese was a major Liberal Democrat donor and backed their leader Ashdown as he planned a coalition government with Labor’s Tony Blair in the run up to 1997, including the raft of constitutional changes Blair enacted that ended up wrecking Britain.

“In the end, Blair didn’t need him, having won a big majority, but Ashdown was a critical part of Blair’s plan to fundamentally transform Britain for the worse.

“Ashdown campaigned alongside the communist-linked CND, backed Obama and the war in Syria, and campaigned to remain in the EU. And that’s who Cleese is comparing with Lowe.

“Also fun to note that Cleese turned down a peerage from Ashdown because “I realised this involved being in England in the winter and I thought that was too much of a price to pay.” Very patriotic.”
