Leftist Burnham can only resist so much of Labour’s insane policies.
We have been reporting on the first days of former Manchester mayor Andy Burnham as the new British Prime Minister.
But in all fairness, it’s not looking too good – after all, he has headed out on a holiday break a mere fortnight after becoming premier.
The guy spends his whole career trying to become the prime minister, and then he is already away from his day-to-day duties.
What a horrible example.
But the worst development of the weeks so far concerns one of Labour’s most insane policies.

But now, the widow of Police Constable Andrew Harper, killed in the line of duty, has accused Burnham of ‘betrayal’, after the news that two of her husband’s killers remain eligible for early release.

Sky News reported:
“Lissie Harper was reacting to the government’s announcement that people jailed for rape, serious child sex offences and grooming will be excluded from the upcoming early prison release scheme, and the first early releases will be delayed by a month until October.
The prime minister said in a statement that while he ‘wanted to go even further’, it would not be possible without the prison system collapsing and putting the public ‘at much greater risk’.
He is seeking to assure the public that offenders will face tighter community supervision, including new GPS monitoring for rapists to restrict movements.”
The Telegraph reported:
“Criminals guilty of manslaughter will be eligible to be freed halfway through their sentences, despite Labour’s review of the scheme.
Rapists and serious child sexual offenders, including grooming-gang perpetrators, will no longer be released early following pressure from victims, MPs and front-line prison officers.
[…] Writing in The Telegraph, Mr. Burnham said he had ‘pushed to the very limits of what is possible’ but could not exempt more criminals without the prison system ‘collapsing within months’.”
Andy Burnham said it would be awful if PC Harper’s killers were released early. But he’s now letting it happen.
