Professor Uses “Jeopardy” To Prove Homosexuality, Pedophilia, and Transgenderism are inextricably Tie — National File

At a 2018 talk at Oregon’s Eugene Public Library, Derrick Jensen used a game-board format he called “Queer Theory, Pedophilia Jeopardy” to examine writings by Michel Foucault, Gayle Rubin, Pat Califia, and Judith Butler.

Jensen argued that the writers’ statements prove an “inextricable” connection between queer theory, homosexuality, transgender identity, and pedophilia.

Jensen quotes from Gayle Rubin’s 1984 essay, “Thinking Sex.” Rubin wrote that “boylovers are so stigmatized that it is difficult to find defenders for their civil liberties, let alone for their erotic orientation.”

“Like communists and homosexuals in the 1950s, boylovers are so stigmatized that it is difficult to find defenders for their civil liberties.” — Gayle Rubin

Jensen also points to Michel Foucault’s intervention in France’s 1977 consent-law debate. An archival account of Foucault’s testimony records him arguing against a blanket legal presumption that minors lack sexual agency.

“The false presumption that the minor is not a sexual person is to be rejected.” — Michel Foucault

Pat Califia made the adult-child question even more explicit. A scholarly review of Califia’s work reproduces the following passage:

“Any child old enough to decide whether or not she or he wants to eat spinach, play with trucks, or wear shoes is old enough to decide whether or not she or he wants to run around naked in the sun, masturbate, sit in somebody’s lap, or engage in sexual activity.” — Pat Califia

Judith Butler also wrote in Undoing Gender that certain incestuous relationships may not inherently traumatize those involved.

“There are probably forms of incest that are not necessarily traumatic.” — Judith Butler

Read the primary text.

The essay’s language exists in the published record. So do Jensen’s citations in the full video:

The record shows that influential figures in queer theory and adjacent sex-radical circles advanced ideas that minimized adult-child power imbalances. Jensen’s critique confronts that record directly. It cannot be dismissed as a fabrication.
