A report has found that Israeli soldiers in Gaza were ordered to fire on unarmed Palestinians near food distribution sites, describing the areas as a “killing field” with “no enemy, no weapons.”
The operation, dubbed “Operation Salted Fish,” involves firing at starving civilians gathering for aid, with soldiers admitting, “We shoot, they run, we shoot again.”
Since May 27, at least 549 Palestinians were killed and over 4,000 wounded near aid centers.
Testimonies describe systematic live fire using machine guns, mortars, and grenades, with commanders instructing troops to shoot before aid sites open or after they close.
Recounting a massacre, one IDF officer said they fired “to signal to the population that this is a combat zone,” and soldiers recalled being ordered to fire shells “to send a message” to civilians.
