The Ukrainian leader has called for the hostilities to be stopped for at least 30 days after a phone call with US President Donald Trump
Kiev is ready for a “complete ceasefire” without preconditions, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has stated. A truce could be put in place “right from this minute,” he said in a statement published on his official Telegram channel following his talks with US President Donald Trump on Thursday.
According to the Ukrainian leader, he discussed ways to “bring about a real and lasting ceasefire closer” as well as the “situation on the frontlines” and “diplomatic work.” He maintained that a truce should last for at least 30 days, claiming that it could “give many chances for diplomacy.”
“Ukraine is ready for a complete ceasefire right today, right from this minute,” he stated, adding that there should be “no missile strikes, drones and… hundreds of assaults on the frontline.” He then claimed that Russia should provide an “adequate” response to this offer and “prove their readiness to end the war.” The Ukrainian leader also urged Washington to “help with this.”
