With unmistakable signs of a velvet revolution gaining momentum by the day, a new and unexpected voice has joined the call for change with an Aboriginal woman demanding the return of the White Australia policy.
This policy began with the Immigration Restriction Act 1901, passed on 23 December 1901 to favour British and European migrants. It was steadily dismantled throughout the 1960s and formally abolished by Whitlam’s Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
The treasonous triumvirate of Albanese, Hunt and Wong might even blush if they listen to this canny Aboriginal woman.
