FLORIDA, USA — “If you don’t show up and do your job, you don’t get paid,” Florida’s Senator Rick Scott said during an interview aired on Fox News Wednesday morning while advocating to cut Congress salaries during the ongoing government shutdown.
“Why are we getting paid?” Scott added.
The federal government shutdown began on Oct. 1, due to an impasse between politicians in Congress who were unable to agree over budget and appropriations.
Scott highlighted Bill S. 88, which he introduced in January. The so-called “No Budget, No Pay Act” states that it aims to prohibit “Members of Congress from being paid in a fiscal year until both chambers approve the budget resolution and pass all regular appropriations bills for that fiscal year. Retroactive pay is prohibited for such a period.”
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 US Congressman Ro Khanna to introduce bill that bans the President and elected officials from owning or creating cryptocurrencies.
