Musk Twitter Takeover: “Dangerous For Democracy” or “Huge Win for Free Speech”?

Twitter has predictably exploded in all directions over the confirmation of Elon Musk’s $43BN takeover, from #BringBackTrump to apparently opening the floodgates to “the biggest racists, worst people and most deceitful political smut peddlers.”

CEO Parag Agrawal has admitted “once the deal closes, we don’t know which direction the platform will go,” with critics of Musk’s proposed relaxed content moderation fearful that even Donald Trump would be welcomed back onto the platform – despite him insisting he has no intention of returning.

Musk himself tweeted Monday that he hopes “even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means”.

Where does Twitter go from here, as the EU warns Musk he has to comply with laws?
