NOT started by the Russians in 2022 but started by Ukraine in 2014 in a civil war which shelled 2 Russian speaking oblasts of Ukraine, Lugansk and Donetsk, which declared independence from Ukraine after the US engineered and paid for a regime change in Kyiv. The civil war continued after the Minsk I and Minsk II agreements, ratified by the UN and were ignored by Ukraine, Germany and France and the US so as to build up the Ukraine army so that there would eventually be a war with Russia.

Putin is merciful to ask Zelensky to withdraw from the Donetsk region because there are many Russian speaking citizens there. It would be difficult not to put those citizens in harm’s way if Ukraine forces hide among the citizens.

I’ve seen Russians use ground robots before mostly Kamikaze ground drones but I think also assault ones, probably not in the quantity the azov used in their counter offensive. Russia is making ucrane show all their aces. Russia does not show all their aces since they know they are facing nafo.

WTF is with all the carry on about “kidnapped” children?? – those kids are being WELL looked after and out of harm’s way – AND – as far as I’m aware there are lines of communication for parents to locate and be re-united with their children? – not to mention that by any normal standard this is something that would automatically end up being addressed after hostilities cease – why be chasing it now???

Why would Belarus be so stupid to release antigovernment traitors. Releasing traitors that will start back their criminal activities to please a US leader is always the wrong choice. Hopefully they are smarter than that. Though from what I am seeing lately there are a lot of stupid people around.

Putin may be saying this (regarding only claiming Donetsk Oblast and presumably Luhansk Oblast also) as he knows likely Zelenskyy will never give up the rest of Donetsk Oblast so it makes Putin seem even more reasonable while in practise the fight can go on. It might be as Donetsk and Luhansk are “republics” not merely “oblasts” Putin feels compelled to liberate all of those territories completely while Zaporozhye and Kherson as mere “oblasts” may be more negotiable, presumably they would be renamed to whichever is the dominant settlement in the Russian controlled area.
