Here’s what others had to say:

None of this is accidental or due to incompetence this is deliberate and has been planned.

@Joyce-Mackey
Foreign investment should not be allowed, causing an imbalance of empty properties.

@mchaves7663
We are in hunger games! The immigration policy is causing huge damage, whoever loses a job now either won’t find a job or will have to compete with hundreds of applicants (locals and immigrants)

@anthonycarter8645
Governments don’t care, They could fix it if they wanted too. So much for looking after the people.

@Nell0669
We need to get rid of local government. Too many levels of government.

@KonaCommuter
Ban Politicians and Public Servants from owning “investment” properties.

I’ll always love Australia, but in my opinion, we we’re our best BEFORE the easy Chinese dig the dirt money came. Bring back the shrimp on the barbie, in fact just bring back the barbie full stop. We lost more than we gained with easy wealth!!! Try remember the day’s of the endless weekends with family, brother, sister, school mate’s, kids across the road!!! So, we got massive equity lifts, and gave away the Aussie spirit. I’m very sorry to say, the GEOGRAPHY (not country anymore) of Australia has lost its soul, lost its way.

Investment comes to small country towns too. We live in a small country town on the mid north coast. Investors from the city have bought up our little shops Their rent is so large it’s the same as a shop in a big mall in a small city. We had a chemist in a small mall that was owned by city doctors. They put the rent up so high the chemist told them they could not afford to pay it. The investor said pay up or get out. The chemist said well if we get out you won’t have anyone in the shop. The investor said well if don’t care it’s just an investment. The shop remains empty years later. These investors are ruining our little town there are so many empty shops because the rents are unaffordable. Yes we were flooded in the last flood but the investors don’t care it’s just a investment.

@Lyn4817
When we purchased our first home in 1990 interest rates went up to 17%. Wage stagnation has been happening for at least 30 years.

@davidhooper-i6t
The rates at 2 and 3 percent was a stupid move people borrowed as much as they could and believed rats wouldn’t go up.
You don’t need to be a finance wizard to know rates have always gone up and down over time

@darthmelbius
Yet the shops are full, reataurants are packed, new cars on the roads, weekends the roads are full of travellers, airports buzz … tough times.

@andreamaxianifantis8062
I’ve been away for many years, decided to come back home to the country l was born in and loved – but now l’m sad to say it’s not the country l left behind, very very sad! From one of the best countries in the world it’s just not worth staying here any more.

Real Estate investment is so convoluted..murky….with layers of hidden taxes etc….please..please bear in mind not everybody can invest and buy more than one house. With cost of living, petrol, stagnant salaries…young people ca not afford their first home and yet you talk about investments..buying more house…it is an insult to the young ones….shame….shame

@Silence-zn2qd
Us Aussies are struggling with just living, while the government give them selves more more in their pay packets, I want to know HOW they do this when the very people who voted them in can’t afford to live, we need to get rid of the present government and all associated people and get all new members into this place of government. As this is, it’s not gunna work.

@Vangolovesart
This crisis is far more likely to effect the large cities than the towns simple maths a million dollar mortgage is a lot to service

@LyndaDollery
Governments stopped building social housing and this is the result. The Greens had a good social housing policy but always get slammed as too idealistic. Tiny homes built by state manufacturers for small families and singles which are owned by the state would make a huge difference to homelessness. Private interests are not efficient as the main driver is private profit. Full disclosure, though I vote Green, I am not a Greens member. I am a 75 year old who wants to see a better life for young or disadvantaged people.

@bikechickgsx
I’ve always lived within my means. Never owned a new car, don’t eat out very much, always paid my credit card everything month.
Result, I now own my house and business and I never earned over $70000 a year till recently, and I got divorced in there as well, so we need more financial education to teach people not waste the money they do on crazy stuff!
Yes, I do know it is much harder to get a start now, but all the above helps too.

@NeutronStar-r7r
Every problem that exists was created by a government. Name one policy Labor has introduced that is in Australia’s interest. Socialism has failed everywhere without fail, and Australia will be no exception.

@actualfacts1055
Too many migrants sharing in Australia’s wealth from natural resources.
