Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak Avoided a Direct Answer When Asked Whether Ukraine Would Attend Peace Talks with Russia If Moscow Refuses a Ceasefire

Zelensky’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak avoided a direct answer when asked whether Ukraine would attend peace talks with Russia if Moscow refuses a ceasefire.

“We have a common approach with our partners: first a ceasefire, then talks,” Yermak told Ukrainian media, citing recent statements from both sides of the Atlantic. “We believe the U.S. should lead this process, with the involvement of Europeans.”

Despite the firm stance on a ceasefire, Yermak emphasized Ukraine’s readiness for “any format of negotiations,” saying Kiev will not give Russia an excuse to blame it for derailing peace efforts.

He referenced President Zelensky’s public invitation to Putin for talks in Istanbul, saying, “Only strong leaders act like that. Today, the ball is in Moscow’s court.”
