The side that wants peace talks without pre-conditions is the side that is being honest. If the Ukrainians really wanted peace, they wouldn’t require a 30 pause nor any other pre-condition.

Now the Russians can advance faster and faster, as demonstrated by Ukraine’s need to obtain a 30-day truce. Only a day before the meeting with Zelensky, there was talk of aid and sending weapons from Europe, but immediately after speaking with Zelensky they changed their minds, a sign that Ukraine prefers a truce rather than receiving weapons, because it is in difficulty. Imposing sanctions on Russia demonstrates the extreme difficulty bordering on inevitable surrender if not accepted.

Today I noticed a great thumbnail of Zelensky in a sword fight with Putin, and while Zelensky was falling backwards on the ground he was futilely demanding a ceasefire.

To address your title, talks will come before any ceasefire. That’s a given. Might be a couple years before the SMO is finished. Although in his last statement, Putin called it a war. So I think it is going to heat up.

The Russian federation military needs to continue relentlessly and ignore any suggestions of ceasefires or delayed action. The West has never honoured one agreement or condition. Russia must never trust its enemies ever again. In my opinion, Russia need to keep pushing to the borders or where they think they can eliminate the impending future threats.

Zelensky resists calls for a ceasefire on special occasions, yet now wants one for 30 days just after Starmer, Macron, Tusk, and Merz visited Kiev, obviously to pledge more help, including military aid — it’s clear what’s going on, and Putin was right to reject the 30 day ceasefire proposal, and instead offer to resume direct negotiations aimed at ending the war.
