‘Far right’ party crasher shares home truths and Melbournites freak out

A MELBOURNE woman takes a swing at a gate crasher who heckled the party representatives at a meeting in Kooyong hosted by the ABC. The Teal MP Monique Ryan ran to comfort her.

WHAT does a middle-aged female and likely Green-Labor supporter do when a meeting is invaded by a man shouting about political parties failing in their governmental role. She screams!

Is it an act of desperate attention seeking? We’re not sure, but it certainly added to the “atmosphere” when a so-called far right heckler invaded a political candidates’ meeting for the seat of Kooyong in Melbourne.

The woman screamed several times then arose to take a very pathetic swing at the heckler who gently brushed her off. Kooyong Teal MP Dr Monique Ryan rushed to the woman’s side to offer solace.

Another woman, hiding her angst with a cheesy grin, tried in vain the push the National Workers Alliance representative Matt Trihey away, but Trihey was just too big and strong for the pathetic mob and kept his cool.

A couple of “ABC Friends”, apparently there to record the candidate’s meeting, joined in half-heartedly. Ryan told the ABC later that what seemed to distress the audience was that the men began shouting about rape.

In fact Trihey was citing statistics about the rising rate of rapes and violent crime in Melbourne related to unchecked immigration.

Ryan told the ABC: “She was a little lady, pretty frail, and he was not a small man, and I was really concerned about that and their potential for that to escalate.”

Ryan was part of the candidates’ line-up at the Kew library with Clive Crosby from Labor and Jackie Carter from the Greens. The ruckus was really quite hilarious and gave Trihey and his video guy some brilliant footage.
