Elon Musk Just Delivered a Simple Test for Spotting Authoritarianism

His message was blunt:
“You can tell which side is the good side and which side is the bad side by which side wishes to restrict freedom of speech.”
Musk argued that throughout history, authoritarian regimes have relied on censorship because they fear open debate.
His conclusion:
“Ideas should win on the strength of their arguments. They should not win because they are suppressed.”
Free speech doesn’t protect popular opinions.
It protects the opinions that those in power would rather you never hear.
