THE New Zealand Free Speech Union pulled off a minor political coup last year by getting Dr James Lindsay, one of the world’s foremost authorities on neo-Marxist ideology, to speak at the country’s Parliament House.
The address, on the topic of “Woke” was not to the chamber but to paying guests at the Parliamentary Hall. Given that probably at least half of the NZ Parliamentary representatives would qualify as woke, it’s unlikely they would have endured a Lindsay lecture.
As for woke, Dr Lindsay was able to cast a great deal of light on to the topic, for instance, explaining how the term “critical constructivist epistemology” was the academic definition of woke and practically how this ideology has been entrenched in our institutions.
Dr Lindsay also explained how President Trump’s anti-woke agenda has met fierce resistance from institutions and corporations. It will take a slow-moving counter revolution to reverse the inroads of woke ideology over the past 75 years, he says.
“It is a world view, it is a totalizing way of viewing the world,” says Dr Lindsay.
Cairns News invites readers to listen to Dr Lindsay’s relatively brief 35-minute address. He could speak for hours on the topic, but he manages to adapt it to the New Zealand situation with indigenous activism and LGBTQ movements in focus and the role they play in the woke agenda.
